The recent migration of domain, web and email services from UKServers Ltd (trading as VirtualNames) following its takeover by Namesco has gone pretty well. As a long term user of VirtualNames I was sorry to see them swallowed up into a bigger operation and one that is more likely to impose higher charges in the future. Despite my concerns beforehand the migration of services has been good – apart from email. This caused a few issues for me and for some of my clients who had been recommended to use VirtualNames for their email.
The main issue was for companies that used a catch-all address for sending and receiving emails although I did also see some problems with clients whose emails are auto forwarded to Gmail.
